So, this is how I see it. Told metaphorically. We are born onto this planet starting on the bottom of a dark cold ocean with one main job. One simple instruction. Make it up to the light. Get to the surface where the light is natural and permanent, and the air is plentiful. Where it’s warm and loving. That is where you are supposed to live. Unfortunately, even though our parents got the same instruction, most couldn’t figure it out and were stuck at the bottom of the ocean. So they taught you what they knew; Learn to breathe artificial air and seek out artificial light so you can be as comfortable as possible at the bottom of the ocean until you figured it out. If you ever did. By the time your parents were done taking care of you, you had amassed a ton of ego thinking, wounds, guilt, societal conditioning, etc. that it tied a huge rock to your leg and even though you were getting instinctual nudges to go up to the light, you could no longer get there with this huge weight. New instruction taught by your parents: Get a job where you can buy enough artificial air and artificial light to keep you alive, and enough distraction mechanisms ( screens, shopping, accumulating, keeping up with the Jones, power, prestige, drugs, alcohol, etc) that you longer think about that you are supposed to get to the surface and the pain of not getting there is tolerable. You seek out artificial light ( relationships, screens, food, money) to replace the light you were told to find, but it never does the trick. Even tries at some religions are artificial light. The light and air is always waiting for you at the surface. It’s nice and warm and you don’t need artificial air or artificial light. But most people never achieve their life mission. Their one instruction. Cut the ties to that big weight, and let go of the impermanent replacements. If you let it all go, ( the rock, the air tanks, the screens, the damaging ego thoughts ) your instinct will be to rise to the surface. To the light. And that is where you are supposed to live. Trusting your internal guidence. You may resonate with this or not. Just something to think about.
