Rocko Drops Today on Netflix, and I’m settled in Belgium

Still in Belgium today, and I opened my Netflix to find the Rocko Special icon under “New This Week”. What a culmination of years of work where the audience can finally see what we did. There have all ready been many stories in the press about the twist concerning Rachel Bighead. I’ve gotten so many letters of appreciation and support for this character. Thank you to Nick Adams and GLAAD for helping us with it.

Special appreciation to my co-director Cosmo Segurson, my board guys Tom Smith and Dan Becker. My whole crew including Jessica Yost, George Chialtas, Jeff Hutchins, Nick Carr, and amazing music from Pat Irwin. My voice actors Carlos Alazraqui, Tom Kenny, Charlie Adler, Doug Lawrence, Linda Wallem and Steve Little

So our container arrived safely from Los Angeles ( on a ship through the Panama Canal into Antwerp Belgium) Personal special belongings arrived safely, my Emmys arrived safely, millions of books. Thousands of dinosaurs and Legos. ( the most important stuff)

I’m flying back to LA tomorrow to tie things up in LA before coming here permanently in September. It’s going to be a challenge in many ways, but a worthwhile one.  So if Rocko can relocate to the US from Australia, then I can do this right?

  1. Joe Static Cling was terrific! It was so great to see the gang from O-Town again! And I’ve got to admit, I was a little misty-eyed when Ed embraced Rachael. A truly beautiful special and of course, absolutely hilarious. Good luck with your new adventures and thank you!

  2. I’ve been a fan for a very long time Joe, love following the blog and keeping up with all your projects (which are all fantastic by the way). Cannot Walt to be finally watching the special tonight, I really hope it does as well as it deserves to do. Best of luck in Belgium! Fantastic that you’ve found a way to work remotely from there, hopefully that comes in handy when the special blows up and they want more Rocko (;

  3. Congrats Joe, can’t wait to set time aside to watch it. I personally made the move from the US to the UK nearly 15 years ago. Things aren’t so great at the moment but it was still the best decision I ever made. Just the opportunity to get a new perspective on the world is worth all the initial discomfort.

  4. Hey Joe, I and I’m sure many others had been waiting for this thing to get released, for better or for worse. I’m happy that the day has finally arrived. Just wanted to say that you and your entire team did an absolutely amazing job. I found it amazing that the show hadn’t lost a step in 20 years time. Still hilarious, still poignant. A skillfully crafted movie and a wonderful piece of animation. I really couldn’t have asked for more. Congrats to everyone involved.

    Side note: Enjoying Luna too when I catch it. And I’m looking forward to what you might cook up with the European cartooning scene. There could be some interesting opportunities. Wish you all the best.
